Working on the questionaire (Spain)



As part of the activities for the project, the students from both schools have been looking for information  in order to improve their knowledge about the partner country.
The Spanish students have enjoyed the activity very much and here are some of their answers:

  1. Can you locate Poland in a map?
The states which share borders with Poland are: Germany in the west, the Czech Republic in the south-west, Slovakia in the south, Ukraine in the south-east, Belarus in the east and Lithuania and Russia in the north-east. To the north of Poland is the Baltic Sea.

  1. What is the capital of Poland?
It´s Warsaw

  1. What are the colours of the Polish flag and the animal in the national emblem?
The colours are red and white and the animal is a white eagle

  1. Can you name the 4 biggest cities in Poland?
Warsaw, Cracow, Lodz and Wroclaw

  1. What are the symbols of Warsaw and Cracow
The symbol of Warsaw is a mermaid and the symbol of Cracow is a dragon

  1. What world famous music composer was born in Poland in the Mazovian region?
Frederic Chopin

  1. Name Poles who received Nobel prize for:
Literature: Czelaw Milosz, Władysław Reymont, Henryk Adam Aleksander Pius Sienkiewicz de Oszyk, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Wisława Szymborska.
 
Science: Marie Curie
Nobel Peace Prize: Lech Walesa.

  1. What is the main religion in Poland?
It´s the Christian religion

  1. What Polish city is famous for a sacred picture of  Mother of God to which pilgrims travel from all over the world?
It is Czestochowa

  1. Where and when were the first shots in the Second World War fired?
They were on the 1st of September in 1939 and the place was Westerplatte

  1. What important sports event will take place in Poland in June 2012?
The Eurocup will take place in Poland

  1. Do you know any Polish sportsmen/women (tennis, skiing, motor sports, basketball, ...)?
Ireneusz Jeleń , Łukasz Fabiański, Robert Kubica, Anna Rogowska

  1. Do you know any typical food from Poland?
Bigos, kotlet schabowy, Polish kielbasa.

  1. I think that it is ok and there is only one mistake. Isaac Bashevis Singer was born in Poland but he was a Jew. :)

  2. These answers are very good. But the Polish flag is white and red, not red and white.

  3. Great job ! I would write also about famous polish basketball player Marcin Gortat or Justyna Kowalczyk :)

  4. I'm very happy that people from Spain know so much about Poland :). I disagree only about sportswomen Anna Rogowska, I think more popular is for example Robert Lewandowski or Wojciech Szczęsny.
